Have you ever had a tea party with your teddy bear or stuffed animals? Sometimes the best tea parties ever were with my teddy bears. They were such great listeners, a great friend, and of course the best advise givers! Yes, they did talk back to me! Growing up as a child sometimes the best feeling was playing pretend. It showed me how to imagine, believe, and be creative. I would gather my bears, prepare some pretend tea, to discuss my concerns, my fears, my dreams, and most of all my feelings. Then, I would grab a ruler, a piece of chalk and write on my small chalk board. Next, I would point to each scribble and sound out the letters so my bears could repeat. They always were right on target, I had the smartest group. They were the best students a teacher could ever have at the age of 4.
Those days are memories I'm proud to remember as I followed my destiny and became a teacher. My passion, my love... To educate and be educated.
So today for Hug-a-Bear Day have a bear tea party, teach them the letters of the alphabet, drink a cup of tea, and share your inner most thoughts. Encourage your preschooler to play pretend. These are the memories we fall back on as adults.
